The actual length of Non adjustable Pedestals can vary depending on the type and brand. It can be a confusing landscape so I made a video about the different types of pedestal systems and how they differ from one another, you can watch this video below in the first button option. The next question is what kind of seat do you add to a pedestal system? Below is information on the 3 main styles of seating for the Ultraskiff. To Watch a Video tutorial on each type of seat please go to our Shop Ultraskiff and Seat Packages page.

Traditional Chair The first option is the traditional Chair setup. Built for traditional comfort on the low end of the pedestal height range I find this style to be ideal for the fisherman who wants to have the ability to sit back and relax as well as fish. Screwing a triple rod rack to the back of a seat is an easy add-on accessory as well. Everything from simple molded flip up seats to plush captains chairs are available to purchase on the open market to create your ideal experience. Of course you don't have to own just one type of chair or setup, you can own different styles and change your experience at will. Total Length for a pedestal including the seat mount is ideal between 13" and 18". |

Casting Seat This Third option is a casting stool setup. This design as many advantages over the traditional chair for the serious fisherman: Sitting in a higher perch at the upper end of the range increases your vision and ability to pitch into structure while seated, the lack of a seat back increases your range of motion making it easier to access control of the tiller handle regardless of which way your body is facing and going from a standing position to a sitting position is much easier on the lower back. In summary this is my favorite setup for the artificial lure angler who is looking to more accurately match the experience of being on the front deck of a Bass Boat. A proper height for for such a seat is between 18" and 29" inches. |

Bar-stool Seat This second option is a Bar-stool seat. Built for versatility this type of round seat is comfortable at the Low, Mid and upper height ranges. The lack of a seat back increases the anglers range of motion and access to tiller control. It is a Sort of combination of both a seat and Casting Stool having a wide base and a rounded exterior that lets your legs fall onto the inner hull at any height. Best used with a Air Adjustable 16 1/2 " - 22 1/2" Pedestal This type of soft round seat has a Symbiotic relationship with the round shape of the Hull, increasing the effectiveness of the one a kind Experience of 360 Degree Fishability. |

NAV Lights
If your Operating your Ultraskiff at night then you need navigation lights. The less wires the better which is why I opt for the battery powered nav lights, they are cheap and the LED's hardly use any battery power so with a few AAA's you have months if not years of use. For a spot light I use the Multi Function Sport light. I mount all of these using the standard 1.5" PVC you see in our videos, wither screwing, bolting or using zip ties to attach them to the PVC.

When I want to bring Ice with me on a hot day I like to use an insulated soft cooler. The fit really nice in the high compartments. Perfect for bringing food, drinks and also keeping your catch fresh and ready to filet when your done fishing.
There are basically 3 levels of quality here. The inexpensive $15 ones, the $40-50 ones and the $300 ones. The difference in price reflects level of insulation and durability of the inside liner. |
3 Rod Holder

If you're a serious Angler who uses a lot of artificial baits then you probably use multiple Rods and you want those other rods out of your way when your casting. Up until this year I always put my other rods on the ground and hung over the transom so I would'n t snag or hit them while I'm casting. Recently, I did finally snag one and the torque from my graphite bait-caster tore right through the top of one of my favorite rods. I was pretty disappointed, to put it nicely. So I finally had the idea to mount rod holders on the back of my chair. Now I can bring all 4 rods, they are always right behind me whether I'm standing or sitting, looks really cool and its easy to swap a rod out really quick.

Anchors

There are a variety of anchors types and sizes to choose from. A standard anchor will work but you have to let out slack and run the motor against it to get it to hold. Personally I use 10 or 15 lb river and mushroom anchors because of their small size and the fact that you can just drop it underneath boat for a hold. Some coated Navy Anchors work very well also. There are great "Claw" styled lightweight anchors, but the problem I have with them is that they don't work well in deep water. I use the 10 lb anchor for freshwater fishing and the 15 lb for saltwater fishing or anything with current.

Anchor Pole

Any shallow water Anchor Pin or Pole fits perfectly through our molded tow ring. You can even use PVC. The Yak attack 8' or 5' anchor pole is the one we currently use because it floats and I certainly recommend getting that floats. When in shallow water it is quiet and efficient for sneaking up on fish and holding you on your target. We also like to go with the 8 foot pole because in instances when the water is too shallow to run the trolling motor (less than a foot) this anchor pin also doubles as a push pole and allows you to propel yourself across the flats.

It is the law to always have a certified personal flotation device on your person or on board your boat during use. There is really a large variety of PFD's on the market, which one fits your needs is up to you.
In some states it is required to have a Distress Signalling device such as a whistle on board. I tie one on to all my Life Vests. Check with your local DMV to see your requirements for a 6 ft electric powered boat. If you plan on wearing one then there is nothing better then a sleek inflatable PFD. Although expensive they are low profile and stay out of your way. |
Trailers

The small utility trailer I use in the videos is the SEG 1090 lb Capacity 40 x 48. They currently retail online for $200, you have to assemble it yourself but its perfect for the skiff. There is also an aluminum Kit Trailer for $379,
Another nearly identical trailer is the Irontron 40 x 48 Utility trailer kit. WHich is available at Northerntool.com. A quick tip on using this trailer is to attach a square seat PFD on top of each fender. Or glue a foam cover on top of each fender so the Fenders do not scratch or rub paint on the boat. Many Kayak, Jet Ski and small boat trailers work great with the Ultraskiff 360 as well. |
