Speckled Sea Trout Fishing on the Ultraskiff 360 Episode 2 "January N.E. Winds"
Welcome to episode 2 of our Speckled Trout Fishing Series in the Ultraskiff 360 Fishing Platform. Weakfish, Spotted Seatrout, tide-runners whatever you like to call them they are a fun fish to catch and tasty as well. It's about Mid January in Tampa Bay FL and the winds have been strong both day and night, typical for January. I do relish in this weather because at the tail end of a warm front when the winds begins to shift back to the N.E. it usually means top notch Trout Fishing on the flats. Indeed it was this particular weekend we had a nice afternoon High Tide both days which flushes the warmed water through the passes and back to the gulf, giving these fish a short window to be active and feed before the night brings in the colder water on the incoming tide. The Fishing was spectacular and as expected the Sea-trout were averaging 18-20" in Length That's 2 inches bigger then it was the first week of January in Episode 1. I fished with a 1/4 oz jig head this time paired up with Bass Assassin paddle tail shad swim-baits in both Electric Chicken and Chicken on a chain color patterns. Both days that week I had a quick limit. I could tell by the size of these fish that the bigger Gator Trout were not far behind though, so tune in for our next episode were we target Gator Trout in the Shallows of the spoil Islands in the final week of January. Tight Lines!
