Hammerhead Shark Search and Seat Gimbal Test Video
This year I and Capt Ben Chancey of the Chew on This Fishing Show had a goal to hook up with a giant great hammerhead shark on the Ultraskiff. Capt Ben is one of the foremost experts in catching these giant fish and for several months of the year, he takes port in Boca Grande Pass, one of the best places to find these giants as they stalk the massive schools of Tarpon looking for an injured fish to snatch from the grasp of an unlucky fisherman. We spent 2 days in June 2017 searching for one but in the end, we came up short. In day one Capt Ben sat on an Ultraskiff for about 6 hours straight, weaving in and out of tarpon fishermen but we did not see a single shark. In day 2 we had a similar experience but luckily there at least were plenty of Bull Sharks in the area. Capt Ben managed to hook into a couple nice sized Bull Sharks which gave us a chance to test out the Deck Gear chair with a fighting chair gimbal attached to it. The gimbal was awesome and the seat was really conformable. Not only that but we were able to get footage of Capt Ben fighting a Bull Shark in a thunderstorm, which was icing on the cake. Either way, it was a fun experiment and we will be back in Boca next year to try again for the Ultimate challenge, fighting a 1,000 Lb Hammerhead in the Ultra skiff 360.
