Speckled Sea Trout Fishing on the Ultraskiff Episode 3 "Gator Time"
Welcome to episode 3 of my Speckled Sea Trout Fishing Series in the Ultraskiff 360 Fishing Platform. It's Late January in Tampa Bay FL and ton this particular Sunday the winds were out of the S.E. and dropped to about 12 mph, which is actually good for January. It was the tail end of a warm front and the barometric pressure was steadily falling as the low pressure front was about the bring rain in to the area. All of these factors will all but guarantee fish are feeding in the Winter here in Florida. When you see things comes together like that you have to make a commitment to get out on the water, even if its only for a couple hours. The Fishing was spectacular for the brief 40 minutes I was on the water, I had 3 Trout over 20 " and 3 about 19" in under 30 minutes. Then I decided to take one last shot at a shallow water monster and landed a 22". After that I decided to head home because I started to feel bad for the Trout, silly as that sounds but I only fished one spot, I could of nailed them all day most likely if kept moving. Once again I fished with 1/4 oz jig heads this time paired up with Bass Assassin paddle tail shad swim-baits in a Chicken on a chain color pattern. For Episode 4 it's 22" - 30" range, or BUST! Tight Lines!
